INSCT’s Program on Security in the Middle East is a unique graduate program at Syracuse University that facilitates student engagement with scholars, renowned experts and practitioners in the field. Students are also afforded the opportunity to engage in direct discussion with peers from partner universities in Jerusalem and Herzliya. The Program highlights the necessity for a cross-cultural approach to understand the historical complexities, political challenges, and religious, economic and social issues that impact the region’s security.  We utilize innovative approaches to learning that foster dialogue and promote critical thinking among the students.

The Carol Becker and Gerry Cramer Graduate Study Abroad fellowships are offered to students to travel to the Middle East, promoting an interdisciplinary approach to law, policy analysis and problem-solving for one of the world’s most complex and dynamic regions.  The Carol Becker Speakers Series rounds out the program, bringing prominent scholars and experts to campus in Syracuse to discuss pertinent Middle East security related topics.

This website serves two functions: to provide information for students participating in INSCT’s Security in the Middle East program and to share the students’ work related to the program.

Note: The itinerary for the AlQuds portion of the program will be posted here as soon as it is available.
