From a previous email
Two students stayed at the Dan Jerusalem and said it was a little expensive and a little ways from where the workshops are, but nice.
Another said she stayed at a place (she couldn’t remember the name) that was nicer than a hostel, but not quite a hotel. She is supposed to be getting back to me soon with the name of the place and a little more info. I’ll pass word along when I hear back.
A third student who went last year wrote:
“I stayed with another student in our group at the Olive Tree Hotel in Jerusalem. We were both very pleased. Clean, comfortable, decent breakfast buffet each morning included, helpful staff, good air conditioning, and shuttle to the airport (which saved us an expensive cab fare). Our basic room even had a large balcony with lounge furniture…a nice feature for the evenings. The room had wi-fi internet but for a fee, so that was kind of annoying. The location was also ideal for the classes we took at Al Quds’ East Jerusalem campus…like 2-3 blocks away. It was about a 10 min walk to the Damascus Gate of Old Town Jerusalem, maybe 20 to Jaffa Gate. Either way, it was very doable. Since we’ve left they’ve opened up a very modern tram system which has a stop about 5 mins from the hotel.
We found a great rate for the hotel via Orbitz, much less than the listed rates. Going this hotel route is certainly more expensive than a hostel, but not significantly so, especially if you share the cost. Hotel’s website is: http://www.olivetreehotel.com/“
